Reelcrew 0.2.38–0.2.39: 3D mascot videos, machine explainers, runs on Linux, private details hidden
Two new Pro skills: your brand mascot rebuilt as a 3D character for promos, dialogues and web-page loops; and videos that explain a hard idea with a familiar machine that works the same way, instead of boxes and arrows. Reelcrew runs on Ubuntu, Debian and dnf-based Linux. Talking-head and real-estate videos hide private details in your photos.
Released on 26 and 27 October 2026. Tell Claude Code or Codex "Update Reelcrew", or run reelcrew update. Pro owners within their update period get the two new skills right away.
3D mascot videos (Pro)
- For brands with a mascot: an animal, a robot or a character drawn on your logo, packaging or social page. Give a picture or a description and the agent rebuilds that very character as a 3D model: it turns all the way round, moves and moves its mouth with the words. No 3D studio needed. Already have a 3D file (GLB/glTF)? It is used as it is.
- You approve the character before any video: the agent sets the 3D mascot beside your picture from the front, side and back, so you can compare every detail (eyes, helmet, props, prints on the body).
- One character, three kinds of video and a character sheet: a 30–40 second promo (16:9 or 9:16) with a voice, music, sound effects and words that land as they are spoken; a dialogue of two mascots at a sidewalk tea table, each with its own voice, with subtitles, made for TikTok and Reels; a silent loop for the top of a web page (desktop 16:9, phone 4:5, each file under 3 MB); and a character sheet to reuse for the next videos.
- Watch the sample "Mầm: a 3D mascot promo for a habit app" on the home page: Nụ, a coral egg with a sprout on its head that grows and blooms as the habit takes root.
Machine explainer videos (Pro)
- A familiar object explains a hard idea. Instead of a diagram of boxes and arrows, the agent invents a real machine or tool that works exactly the way the idea works, then draws it and makes it run. Viewers recognise the machine, so they get the idea.
- For example: "software that only redoes its work when the data changed" becomes a lock: when every pin matches, the lock turns at once; one pin out of line shows something has changed.
- For example: "one processor serving many screens at once" becomes a plotter with a single print head that visits each of 16 wells in turn.
- Use it to explain how your product, software or system works, in a promo video, a blog post, a sales page, a guide or a lesson.
- The video goes step by step: it opens with the question; the machine runs one step at a time, the working part lit as the voice names it; the machine comes apart so every part shows; it ends with the answer. A Vietnamese or English voice, captions that follow the words, machine sounds; or music only. Landscape or portrait.
- Also: a web page where viewers press to run the machine themselves, and printable PDF sheets (A4 or Letter).
- The drawing is as detailed as a technical drawing: a base, rails, springs, screws, a dial needle that really moves; the numbers it shows are worked out, not guessed.
- Watch the sample "How does a dial gauge read height?" on the home page.
Talking-head and real-estate videos (Pro)
- Private details hidden: the agent checks each of your photos and clips before the build; licence plates, ID papers, private phone numbers, customers' names, QR codes and bank details on a screen are blurred. The video is built only once every photo is checked. Product names, prices and the speaker are never blurred.
- Kinetic words: a spoken word can act out its meaning (it runs, melts, turns into a house…), 34 ready-made styles.
- End card: the last picture holds while a card with your lines and logo fades in.
- Screen-share recordings (webinars, demos): the screen and the speaker's face stacked in a vertical frame.
- Better balanced captions with no word left alone at a line end; titles no longer hidden by the speaker's head.
- Route videos (metro, expressway, ring road) check the narration for plain words and hide private details in your photos.
Runs on Linux
- Reelcrew runs on Ubuntu 20.04, 22.04, 24.04 and Debian 12, 13 with Claude Code and Codex. On Fedora, RHEL, Rocky, Alma 8 and 9 and Amazon Linux 2023, Reelcrew prints the dnf commands to run. The home page and the guide have the Linux install line.
reelcrew doctor tells you when your agent cannot find the reelcrew command, when the computer lacks a font or its ffmpeg is too old, with the fix.
Plainer narration
- Short explainers and motion videos check the narration before the render: AI-sounding stock phrases, sentences over 25 words, repeated openers. The script says who the video is for, what they know and what they need; someone other than the builder retells it in plain words before the content review passes.
- English listening videos check only the stock phrases in what the voice reads.
Also
- The site has its own English pages: reelcrew.io/en, the guide at reelcrew.io/guide.
- The API keys page shows your account's number of computers. Accounts that already bought keep theirs.
- Machine figures show their hint line; 3D mascots keep the printed font, worn paint and lenses true to your picture.

Reelcrew 0.2.36: whiteboard drawing videos, edit each drawn region in Studio, review a video step by step
A new Pro skill turns subtitles, a voice file or a script into a whiteboard video with a drawing hand, and Studio gets a Regions view to drag each drawn region into place. Motion and short explainer videos can now stop for your review of the content, the animatic, the frames and the final cut.
Released on 21 October 2026. Tell Claude Code or Codex "Update Reelcrew", or run reelcrew update. Pro owners within their update period get the new skill right away.
Whiteboard drawing videos (Pro)
- From subtitles, a voice or a script. Give it an SRT file (with or without its voice), a voice file, or just a script: the agent splits it into 25–35 second scenes, one line-art picture on warm paper each.
- A hand draws along with the words. A hand with a pen draws each region in the story's order, the line laid in one stroke and then coloured in, with a pencil sound, a soft music bed, optional subtitles and standard −14 LUFS loudness. 16:9 or 9:16.
- Free voices on your computer in Vietnamese and English; a paid voice when you choose one.
- Every step waits for your OK: the scene plan, the pictures, the regions, the check stills, each scene, the final video.
- Watch the sample "Why do rainbows form?" on the home page and in your account.
Studio: the Regions view
- Drag each drawn region into place on the picture: move and resize the boxes, reorder them, set their start and end, link their subtitle, preview the drawing order, then Save. The next render reads exactly what you saved.
Review a video step by step
- beat-motion-video and niche-explainer-short have optional review steps: the content, the animatic, the frames before the render, and the final video. Each step is stamped; the video renders only once the steps you asked for have passed, with a receipt showing it was made from what you approved.
Also
- New sample videos: "A Small Step" for the English listening video and "Why do rainbows form?" for the whiteboard video, on the home page and on the skill cards of your account page (watch and download).
- Computer changes: the API keys page shows how many changes each seat has left and when the next one frees up; the guide and the FAQ state the limit.
- Referral leaderboard: referrers can choose to appear on a public board ranked by commission, with their link's conversion rate and tier badge; the account page shows the next tier.
- A tidier computer: every reelcrew command removes its own temp folders, also on an error or Ctrl-C.

Reelcrew 0.2.34: talking videos cut ~20× faster, 9 new looks, real-estate videos made by the agent
Shoot it and get a short: talking videos cut ~20× faster, hook titles that hold the first 2 seconds, an edit as if you had an editor; real-estate photos appear as the agent speaks; 9 new motion looks, from an app launch like a tech keynote to an Excel setting taught in 20 seconds.
Released on 19 October 2026. Tell Claude Code or Codex "Update Reelcrew", or run reelcrew update. Pro owners within their update period get it right away. Live demos of every item: 10 days, 26 updates.
Talking videos: shoot it and get a short
- Talking videos cut ~20× faster. Give it one phone clip and get a trimmed 9:16 short, several shorts from one long talk, or a clean long version with captions. Silences, "uh, um" and repeated lines are cut for you; karaoke captions light up word by word.
- Hold viewers in the first 2 seconds. Three hook-title styles: falling words, words shattering like glass, or a paper card pinned to the page. The words can sit behind the speaker's head, never over the face.
- An edit "as if you had an editor". When it should look better rather than come fast: natural skin tones, a round face frame over inserts, keywords on the spoken words. Text never covers the mouth or chin.
- Vietnamese cuts that never cut wrong. Reduplicated and deliberately repeated words stay: "lung linh" is never cut to "lung".
Real estate
- Sales agents make their own videos: the photo appears as it is named. The agent records one project clip and adds renders; each photo fills the screen as "pool", "lobby" or "amenities" is said. No editing skills needed.
- A map clip: "12 minutes to the centre". The project pin, each route drawn in turn, labels like "≈ 12 min · 5.4 km" from real road data.
- A full project video from one sales clip. A 1–5 minute agent clip becomes a 45–75 second agency-style short: the speaker cut out and standing on the project's renders.
- Maps of metro lines, expressways and the route from the flat. Cars and trains run on the real route, the minutes adding up leg by leg.
9 new looks in beat-motion-video
- An app launch like a tech keynote: a tilted 3D laptop, a cursor that clicks and drags for real, from your app's screenshots.
- Tech news made clear in a minute: one AI story or new tool on one seamless stage, diagrams appearing word by word.
- "How does it really work?": contactless payment, a touchscreen… explained with one magnified cutaway and computed numbers.
- A psychology effect told through an everyday moment: Zeigarnik, the 2-minute rule… slow and thoughtful.
- Type that performs the voice: every phrase slams, flies, flips or counts on its spoken word.
- A course ad told as work-order tickets: the learners' pain as "stuck" tickets, the course stamping them "done".
- One Excel setting taught in 20 seconds: the cursor clicks through each value, the cells change at once, every value as Excel shows it.
- A shop's product ad: 15–25 seconds for 1–6 products, 5 styles, from the shop's own listing.
- An online-selling diagram: a conversion funnel or where an order's money goes, on one kraft-paper board with computed numbers.
Behind the scenes: why videos have fewer mistakes
- Music composed for the video, every cut on the beat: free, no licensed tracks needed.
- Text checked on every frame: no lone last word, no text under the TikTok or Reels buttons, no Vietnamese marks touching the line above.
- english-listen-video adds an English pun on a chalkboard; niche-explainer-short gets a sheet of every scene join to check before delivery.
Versions: cli 0.2.34, beat-motion-video 1.0.7, talking-head-highlight-short 1.2.6, niche-explainer-short 1.0.7, property-location-video 1.1.10, english-listen-video 1.0.1

Reelcrew 0.2.31–0.2.33: Codex and Cloud Agents, English listening videos, 2 new video looks
Reelcrew works with Codex and on Cloud Agent machines (ChatGPT Work, Claude Code on the web); the Pro plan gets an English listening video skill; beat-motion-video gets an option-compare look and a mindmap look; free English voice, speech to text and stock media.
Three releases from 13 to 15 October 2026, in one update.
Codex and Cloud Agents (0.2.31)
- Reelcrew works with Codex beside Claude Code: the skills are installed for both, chosen with
reelcrew install --host claude|codex|all. - It runs on Cloud Agent machines such as ChatGPT Work and Claude Code on the web: sign in with
reelcrew login --cloud; the install page in your account names each agent's network setting. - Free speech to text with no key:
reelcrew transcribe setup whisper. - Free sound sets for your videos, and
reelcrew report --send to send a bug report to the Reelcrew team. - Your account shows a picture of each skill that opens its sample video.
English voice, stock media and 2 new looks (0.2.32)
- A free English voice, Kokoro, that runs on your own computer.
- Free stock photos and clips from Pixabay, with the credits written for you (needs a free Pixabay key).
- beat-motion-video gets 2 looks: option-compare (5 styles) and mindmap (a hand-drawn map that grows with the voice).
- Steadier renders when Chrome starts slowly.
- On the site: buy a plan without signing in first (an email, a discount code field and company invoice details), and sample videos open faster with a download link.
English listening videos (0.2.33)
- The Pro plan gets the english-listen-video skill: from one short lesson, the agent makes a 15–80 second vertical English listening video for Vietnamese learners, as a bilingual story, a vocabulary passage or a guess-the-word quiz. Kokoro reads English and VieNeu reads Vietnamese, both free.
- Pro owners within their update period get it right away. Try: tell Claude Code or Codex "Make a guess-the-word video on kitchen words, 5 words".
- Kokoro names the cause and the fix when it is installed in a folder too deep for it (install it again in a short folder such as
~/kokoro). - A new Updates page on the site, where updates like this one are posted.
